In the world of profiling and lie detection, competitors often emphasize that they offer a lot of practice and minimal theory, as well as many years of work experience. However, in reality, they give students books and video lectures, often recorded with the participation of their students. Classes are often conducted both offline in classrooms and online to show slides or write something on a board.

Hello! My name is Sergey Malikov.
I am your guide in the world of profiling and lie detection. I have a Bachelor degree in Medicine and Law. My interest in psychology of deception began in 2008 with books and the movie "Lie to Me."
In 2012-2013, I trained in non-instrumental lie detection and profiling, and in 2013, I received a polygraphologist certificate and founded the “Verificator” company in Belarus. In 2016, I received a polygraphologist diploma, and since 2018, I have been conducting profiling training.
Since 2023, I have managed a polygraph testing firm in Europe, and in 2024, I founded the European Center for Lie Detection and Profiling “Verificator” in Warsaw.

The theory of lying, what it is: The basis of a person's interaction with the environment. Stimulus and response. The function and forms of lying. Human reaction: stand, fight, flee. Why can we read someone's lie without direct contact? Our consciousness is a single-threaded scheme. Analysis of the cause-and-effect table of lying. The relationship between the liar and the victim of deception. Consequences of lying. What to do to make lies more visible. Content matters.
Lie markers (LM) as the basic and mathematical unit of lie detection. Stress = LM. Concept, origin. The system of lie markers. 4 levels of lie detection skills. 'Liar's connections.' Their quantity and quality. Where to look for LMs – facial expressions, speech, body movements, and behavior, with examples.
How to read a person? The mechanics. Possible responses of an honest and a lying person. Directions where we look for microexpressions, examples. Where to look, what kind of view can be covered. Reading mode live and in recordings. NVC technique.
The classification of ML is divided by the source of origin and by the place of manifestation: TOZ, CNS, speech, facial expressions, body movements, behavior, special forms of lying. TOZ - the point of tentative freezing. Where a lie begins. TOZ rules.
Autonomic nervous system – what is it? ML in this group: Breathing, pupil, blinking, descriptors, aortic pulsation + vein thickening, sweating, skin redness/paleness, smooth muscle tone, gaze, voice, the effect of systemic freezing.
Speech. Classification. ML in speech: evasion, leakage, Milton-speech, neutralization, justification, tirade, accusation, OUV (evaluation of statement validity).
Facial expressions involve only the activity of facial muscles: a mismatch between a person's basic emotion and the content of an event. A mismatch between a person's overall emotional state and the descriptive picture of speech. Leaks. Paul Ekman, as a fundamental pioneer in reading people by their faces.
Body movements. Why the body is often more informative than speech. What’s included here: posture, gestures, and any movement of body parts. LMs: limb tremors, distancing, eyes + eyelids, the effect of the whole body freezing, leaks. Gestures: manipulators, illustrators, and self-soothing (adapters).
ML in behavior: it's the illogical, unnatural actions of a person in a specific situation. That is, we already have statistics on the actions of an honest person in this context. When we compare, we see this discrepancy.
Presenting the truth as a lie, turning it into a legend. Monstrous lies and monstrous truth.
We need to collect statistics of stimuli from ML. We count the number of MLs, preferably at least 3 for each stimulus. Each ML has its own reliability strength and depends on how hard it is to fake. There’s also a truth triad.
